Erik ten Hag's angry response to the media following Manchester United's win over Coventry led to a heated exchange on talkSPORT Breakfast.

The Red Devils boss labelled the press as 'embarrassing' and a 'disgrace' over the reaction to their FA Cup semi-final victory over the Championship outfit, on penalties.

United have come under scrutiny for throwing away a three-goal lead at Wembley, before eventually setting up a final clash with Manchester City after sealing the win in a spot-kick showdown.

And Ten Hag in particular has received backlash - especially after his antics in the post-match press conference.

His reaction has divided opinion between former Aston Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor and broadcaster Shebahn Aherne.

Aherne was quick to defend Ten Hag, believing he was right to hit back at the media having guided his side into back-to-back FA Cup finals.

Agbonlahor wasn't having it though, as the former Aston Villa captain said: "Once you start having outbursts in the press, it doesn't end well for you."

Aherne replied: "Absolutely. But Fergie [Sir Alex Ferguson] used to ban the press.

"He is well within his rights if he's asked a question, 'Do you think it's embarrassing?', to go back at the press. That's what they're for.

"How are they so entitled to chuck out disrespectful questions?"

In reply, Agbonlahor remarked: "There's no problem going back at the press, but I think once you go at the press, it only ends up one way, especially if your team isn't performing to the levels they should be."

Interjecting, co-host former United striker Alan Brazil commented: "It's handling the press, Shebahn, it's not all black and white."

Continuing with his point, Agbonlahor continued: "Fergie done it, but they were at the top, fighting for league titles, fighting for Champions Leagues.

"Now, they're nowhere near the top four, no chance of getting Champions League football, if you're coming out and having outbursts at the press, they'll finish you."

Brazil, looking to wind Aherne up, joked, 'Don't get the huff', leading her to snap back by saying: "I'm not getting the huff!

"I just don't understand why you're saying it's an outburst from Ten Hag, he was asked a question and he answered it. He said you were embarrassing.

"Pep [Guardiola] has a moan all the time, [Jurgen] Klopp has a moan all the time, he has a go at you [points at Agbonlahor].

"Erik ten Hag, because there is so much pressure on him and he's Manchester United's manager, is just [expected] to sit and bat off the press."

Having the final say, Brazil added: "Manchester United manager for now, he's not lasting."
