Liverpool 4-2 Tottenham LIVE REACTION: Reds blow Spurs away at Anfield to give themselves outside chance of winning Premier League title

Liverpool put themselves back into the Premier League title race with a 4-2 win over Tottenham at Anfield.

The Reds played with freedom and raced into a 4-0 lead before Spurs got two back to make the scoreline look a bit more respectable.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring when he headed home Cody Gakpo's brilliant cross.

Andrew Robertson doubled the lead just before half time to give Jurgen Klopp's side a commanding lead.

Gakpo made it 3-0 with a great header before Harvey Elliott rifled in a stunning fourth.

Ange Postecoglou introduced Richarlison from the bench, and he converted Brennan Johnson's low cross.

He then set up Heung-min Son to ensure it was nervy last few minutes at Anfield for the Reds, who now trail Arsenal by five points.

    Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking to Sky Sports after his penultimate game at Anfield ended in a 4-2 win.

    He said: "We were outstanding until we weren't.

    "But it was a really good game.

    "Anfield was a special place today because the boys were outstanding until we weren't.

    "Tottenham scored two goals, but then, we came back into the game and could have scored more.

    "The boys were really, really good."

  • Son reacts

    Tottenham captain Heung-min Son has been speaking to Sky Sports about his team's 4-2 defeat to Liverpool.

    He said: "It was much better than against Chelsea.

    "I thought we competed very well before we conceded, but it was a tough result.

    "We have to stick together because the last four fixtures have been really tough.

    "This is an opportunity for us to get it together."

  • How things stand

    So, that win for Liverpool puts them five points off Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

    It also means Spurs are still seven points off Aston Villa with a game in hand.

    However, should they fail to beat Burnley next week, it's possible Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea will be breathing down their neck for fifth.

  • Gakpo delighted with win

    Liverpool's Cody Gakpo had a very good game for the Reds today in his side's 4-2 win over Tottenham, and he has been speaking to Sky Sports about the victory.

    He said: "It's been a disappointing few weeks.

    "To win like this at home; it was a good day.

    "It was a big match for us. We just went out there and enjoyed it. We played together and defended together."

    He plays a perfect pass through, but the Italian makes a huge save to deny Nunez.
