Exclusive: How Liverpool feel about Luis Diaz’s father’s comments & Michael Edwards’ transfer stance

HITC understands that Liverpool have no intention of selling Luis Diaz this summer.

Liverpool have become aware of intermediaries ‘making noises’ in Spain about the potential availability of the Colombian international.

And his father was this week quoted about interest when asked by the Spanish press, as his son featured for Colombia against Romania in Madrid.

Néstor Lorenzo’s side recorded a 3-2 friendly win on Tuesday night, with Luis Diaz starting the match, as well as supplying the assist when Colombia beat Spain 1-0 days earlier.

Liverpool are not angry with Luis Diaz and his family, but they are upset about the moves from third parties.

Michael Edwards and Luis Diaz

With Jurgen Klopp set to leave at the end of the season, it has proven to be a dagger in the hearts of fans.

But one major plus is that, whilst the German heads for the exit door, the club’s former transfer guru, Michael Edwards is returning.

HITC understands that Liverpool, under Edwards, see Diaz as a key part of their attack going forward, especially with Mohamed Salah’s future looking increasingly likely to lie away from Anfield, with the Saudi Pro League ready to make a record bid for him.

As HITC revealed earlier this month, with Cristiano Ronaldo being the top guy in Saudi Arabia, the powers that be in the Middle East are willing to make Salah the top earner.

At 31, the Egypt international is one of the best players in the world and still playing at the peak of his powers.

Securing his services would further show the power of the Saudi Pro League and their determination to become one of the world’s best in years to come.
